Boeing Submits an Action Plan to FAA for Addressing Quality Control Issues, Following a Door Plug Failure

A latest travel news report on https://www.usatoday.com/, published on May 30, 2024, confirms that Boeing submitted an action plan to address “systemic quality-control issues” following January’s door plug failure on an Alaska Airlines flight, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced.

The FAA required Boeing to outline the measures it will take, which include strengthening safety management, bolstering employee safety reporting, simplifying processes and procedures, enhancing supplier oversight, improving employee training and communication, and increasing internal audits of the production system.

Despite these steps, the FAA stated that more work remains to be done.

“On the FAA’s part, we will make sure they do and that their fixes are effective. This does not mark the end of our increased oversight of Boeing and its suppliers, but it sets a new standard of how Boeing does business,” FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker said in a statement.
